Customs Brokerage

Licensed agents clearing your cargo through Nigerian Customs, with the paperwork started before the vessel arrives.

Customs clearance is where a Nigerian import either succeeds or starts accruing demurrage. Our licensed agents lodge the declaration, manage assessment, handle duty payment, attend examination and see the consignment through to release and gate exit.

Wherever the shipment allows it, the work starts pre-arrival. The Form M is in place and the PAAR is raised against the shipment before it lands, so clearance begins on arrival rather than beginning after it. On a laden vessel that difference is measured in days of demurrage.

What we need from you is small and it is always the same: the commercial invoice, the packing list, your Form M number, and any regulatory permit the commodity carries. Send them at booking. By the time the goods land it is already late.

What drives the cost

  • cargo weight and dimensions
  • mode and routing
  • whether the cargo is regulated
  • handling and storage at destination
  • duty and levies, which are set by Customs and not by us

What drives the timeline

  • whether documentation is in place before the cargo ships
  • Customs examination selection
  • port congestion at the time of arrival
  • onward road access to the delivery site

What's included

  • Form M processing and PAAR application
  • Declaration lodgement and Customs assessment
  • Duty and levy computation, and payment to the designated bank
  • Examination attendance — scanning and physical
  • Release, exit and gate documentation
  • Regulatory permits where applicable — NAFDAC, SONCAP, and others by commodity

How we do it

  1. Document review against the commodity and its regulatory status
  2. Form M and PAAR
  3. Declaration lodged and assessed
  4. Duty and levies paid
  5. Examination
  6. Release, exit note, and handover to delivery

Questions

What is PAAR, and why does it matter?
The Pre-Arrival Assessment Report is the document Nigerian Customs raises against your Form M setting out the classification and duty basis for the shipment. It is issued before the cargo arrives. Having it in hand on arrival is the difference between clearing a shipment and storing it.
What happens if my consignment is queried?
We attend the examination, respond to the query and keep you informed through it. Where a query is a classification dispute rather than a documentation gap, we will tell you plainly which it is and what the realistic options are.
